Would You Accept a Solar Power Plant on Arnside Knott? You might have to.
Most people in Arnside believe their beautiful landscapes are safe — but that safety may be an illusion.
Just across the county, a massive solar project is proposed for Dent Fell, a beloved local landmark just outside the Lake District National Park boundary. Because Dent Fell lies outside the protected area, developers see it as fair game.
That same logic could soon apply to Arnside Knott and its surrounding hills. Like Dent Fell, Arnside sits outside the National Park — and just like Dent, it offers open land, south-facing slopes, and limited legal protection. If the Dent Fell development goes ahead, it sets a dangerous precedent for similar industrial-scale solar farms on our doorstep.
This isn’t about opposing green energy — it’s about protecting wild places. Solar should go on rooftops, brownfield sites, and industrial zones — not on treasured fells and ancient landscapes.
If you love Arnside Knott, if you walk its trails, watch its sunsets, or simply treasure the peace it offers — now is the time to act.
Dent Fell is the front line. Arnside Knott could be next.

Let’s protect what we all value — before it’s too late.
